DESIGN SKILL WORKSHOPS WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN EVERY SPECIAL EDUCATION PRACTICE SCHOOLS

There are 979 Special Education Practice Schools in the entire country that give education for students with moderate and heavy mental deficiency or autism spectrum disorder.
 
There are a total of 31,714 students studying in these schools. The Ministry of National Education has initiated a new project for the establishment of Special Education Schools to benefit from design skill workshops which will help students to develop their skills and ability to design and produce. The Ministry has completed the preparation for the establishment of at least one design skill workshop in every special education practice school.

Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk stressed that they prioritize reaching more children by disseminating workshops that focus on design and practice adding that, "We want to combine knowledge with practice and give students the opportunity to use their hands and skills. Our main goal is to respect the nature of students and improve their talents. We have taken an important step with this project as a part of our goal to increase the quality of education services provided for special students, offer equal education rights and support the social development of our special students."
 
Selçuk stated that the design skill workshops will play an important role in supporting the development of special students' interests and talents and these students will have the opportunity to learn more about themselves, environment and career options.
 
Noting that there will be at least one design skill workshop in every special education practice school, Ziya Selçuk thanked Deputy Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, Director General for Special Education and Guidance Services Nezir Gül and his colleagues for their efforts.
