The Ministry of National Education has been preparing handbooks for teachers about methods that can be used for increasing the success of students.

After the first handbook which was focused on "how teachers can use feedback methods effectively in order to mirror learning process of students", the second book seeks the answer to the question "how peer teaching can be used as an effective teaching method under the guidance of teachers."

There are many models based on peer teaching which takes place as a natural outcome of inside the classroom and other daily life activities. Peer teaching which occurs when students, by design, teach other students does not only increase the academic success of students but also contributes to the development of series of manners and behaviors such as self-confidence, responsibility and time management. The handbook also stresses that these methods create friendship based learning environment and makes suggestions on how they can be used as teaching strategy.

Noting that teaching and learning are not independent from each other, Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk said, "Teachers learn more when they teach students. Talents and areas of success of each child are different. When we ask a student to teach his knowledge to his friend, this student will become a good teacher. Sense of responsibility and self-esteem of the student who teaches will develop and his or her knowledge will become permanent while teaching. We tried to answer the question about "how and when to use peer teaching" by searching many national and international sources. I wish that this handbook will be useful for my colleagues and students."
