Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer met with the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, as part of official contacts. Meetings between delegations were also held under the chairmanship of the two Ministers.
Expressing that he is pleased with the cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of education for years, Minister Özer said that Türkiye has undergone a great transformation in the field of education in the last twenty years. Özer said that he would be happy to share all the experiences with Azerbaijan, from schooling rates to digitalization in education, and from teacher training to transformation in vocational education, and to carry the experience further.
Emphasizing that they came to Azerbaijan with a very comprehensive delegation today, Minister Özer stated that they wanted the relations to gain a much more solid ground and progress rapidly and to benefit from Azerbaijan's experience.
Thanking Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Amrullayev for his support for the establishment of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, Minister Özer said that the cooperation between the two countries is going to be strengthened thanks to the opening of the foundation. Özer also stated that he would be pleased with the acceleration of the process for the establishment of a university in Azerbaijan, to which the two Presidents have signed a covenant, and the support. He underlined that the support for increasing the capacity of the Turkish school here is very valuable. Expressing that this meeting, which was held after the Teknofest visit, will create a new turning point in the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye in the field of education, Özer thanked his counterpart Amrullayev on behalf of his delegation for hosting them and presented his respect.
Stating that he is pleased to host Minister Özer and his delegation, Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev emphasized that the relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the field of education have reached a very high level in recent years. Amrullayev said that they will continue to work to reinforce the cooperation in education between the two countries.
Deputy Ministers Petek Aşkar and Sadri Şensoy, Director General of the European Union and Foreign Relations Hasan Ünsal, MEB Support Services General Manager Levent Özil, Director General for Teacher Training and Development Programs Cevdet Vural, Director General for Vocational and Technical Education Nazan Şener, Director General for Higher Education and Foreign Education Murat Süt, Baku Education Counsellor Ali Rıza Altunel and Türkiye's Ambassador to Baku Cahit Bağcı accompanied Minister Özer during the visit.
