The Ministry of National Education focused on "patent, useful model, design and brand" registration as a part of is intellectual rights property campaign carried out in vocational education, BİLSEMs and science high schools and set the goal of getting registration of 753 products. Within this framework, the Ministry organized training programs about intellectual and industrial property rights for teachers working in 183 BİLSEMs located in 81 cities of the country with the support of Turkish Patent and Brand Institution.
The Ministry filed 3 thousand and 806 registration applications for the products of vocational education, BİLSEMs and science high schools in the first ten months of 2021. The Ministry got the registry of 1441 patents, useful models, designs and brands and broke a new record. Meanwhile, the majority of applications are still under assessment.
The Ministry was aiming at getting the registration of 183 products, at least one product from each BİLSEM this year. BİLSEMs applied for the registration of 2 thousand and 600 products in the first ten months of 2021, 117 of them being patents, 358 useful models, 2 thousand and 50 designs and 15 brands. As a result of application, BİLSEMs got the registration of 13 patents, 31 useful models, 1158 designs and 8 brands.
The Ministry set the goal of getting the registration of 250 products of vocational education institutions in 2021. These institutions made the application for getting the registration of 1009 products this year; they registered a total of 221 products, 12 of them being patents, 16 useful models, 110 designs and 83 brands.
The Ministry was aiming at getting the registration of at least one product of each science high school in 2021. Science high schools applied for the registration of 197 products this year and 10 of these products got registration.
"Present situation is promising"
Minister of National Education said about these achievements that: "Vocational education institutions, BİLSEMs and science high schools achieved important success in intellectual property rights. As a result of our cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Brand Institution, we have organized training programs for our teachers and administrators in 81 cities of the country. Moreover, we have established intellectual property rights offices in 81 cities in order to provide the coordination and required support. We have applied for the registration of a total of 3 thousand and 806 products of vocational education institutions, BİLSEMs and science schools and 1.441 patents, useful models, designs and brands got the registration in the first ten months of this year. Present situation is promising. We have learned important experiences about intellectual and industrial property rights. These will carry us to a better place in the future."
Minister Özer thanked the Head of Turkish Patent and Brand Institution Prof. Dr. Habip Asan for his support, Director General for Special Education and Guidance Services Mehmet Nezir Gül, Director General for Vocational and Technical Education Nazan Şener, Director General for Secondary Education Halil İbrahim Topçu and provincial directors of national education of 81 cities for their efforts.
