Making statements concerning face to face education during the Handover Ceremony, incoming Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stressed that students, teachers and parents experienced huge difficulties and made great sacrifices during the pandemic.

Özer said that he would do everything in his power to open schools for face to face education in September adding that: "Minister Ziya Selçuk carried out many important projects for the compensation of loss experienced due to the pandemic for the last 1.5 years. These projects will be updated and will continue. My priority is to take required measures and prepare schools for face to face education. It is extremely crucial to go back to face to face education in the near future in Turkey. We cannot wait for the pandemic to completely end in order to open schools. We cannot allow the pandemic to negatively affect the physical and mental wellbeing of our children."
